The Best Movies of 2025 (And the Worst)

As the Oscar’s approach, I have finally decided to release my 2025 movie rankings. There are about five movies from this year that I have not seen yet, because they did not make it to my theater. Most of them are foreign language films, and two of them are nominated for best picture, so hopefully, I will be able to see them before the ceremony!
Overall, I think this was an okay year for movies. I loved Warfare and Train Dreams. They are two very different movies. One is propulsive and intense, Warfare, and the other is slow, emotional, and beautiful, Train Dreams. I watched three movies from this year twice, and that is more than usual. I watched Warfare in theaters two times in three days, and I revisited Sinners and 28 Years Later on streaming. I plan on revisiting Train Dreams soon, and I preordered the Good Boy Blu-Ray, which comes out on St. Patrick’s Day.
If I got to vote for Best Picture, I would vote for Train Dreams, but I think One Battle After Another is going to win, which is not a bad choice, but it is an odd movie. I have it fourth, because it is great, but there are multiple movies below it that I like more. All I ask is that Train Dreams wins best cinematography.
I had 233 2025 movies that I watched last year, and 100 of them were in theaters. Hopefully this year, I can get more in the theaters. I also watched many stand up specials this year, and I ranked those at the bottom as well.
