A Grand Epoch in IMAX
Christopher Nolan loves to make stories in grand skill, and historically, one of the most well-known epochs is The Odyssey. To make this film, Nolan and the cast spanned countries and they used miles worth of film. It was all filmed on a special IMAX camera for the first time ever, so seeing this in a premium format is highly recommended. This is important not only for the grand visuals, but also for the sound, which at times makes your chest vibrate. The hype around The Odys

Celebrating British Combat on Independence Day
It makes sense that on 4th of July weekend, that a movie about one of America’s founding heroes would be released. What is surprising is the period of life in which they chose to depict this great leaders life. George Washington was born and raised in Virginia, and before he thought about fighting for independence and creating a country name America, he wanted to be an officer for the British, more than anything (or at least that is what the movie portrayed). Young Washingto

Racing Deer, Playing Chicken with Geese, and Shaving a Squirrel’s Tail: Adventures in Biking
It has been close to a month since I got hurt running, and running is still the one activity that makes my leg hurt, especially going fast. In the past three weeks, I have been able to log over three-hundred miles, initially on my mountain bike, and then on my new road bike, once I decided this might be a longer term situation. This has given me a chance to see the surrounding area in which I now live in greater detail than running could have, and it has been awesome.

Toy Story Is Pixars Most Reliable Franchise
Pixar has been having a rough go of it. They went from being the premier animation studio to making some mediocre movies. The animation style of others changed with movies like Into and Across the Spiderverse, but Pixar stayed the same, just bolstering the quality of their animation as they went, but keeping the style the same. Their style still holds up, but there is nothing wrong with trying something new, and their stories have not been nearly as good as they were in the p

Release the Alien Files
Conspiracy theories, redacted files, and mysterious military bases have peaked people’s interest for decades. Even within the last decade, there was a gathering of people outside of Area 51, which resulted in no new information, but it shows an interest, a desire to know something about space/aliens. President Trump also made promises that he would release the files on extraterrestrial life (among other things), but so far this has been an empty promise, shocker. But what if

Can We Settle Off Earth?
One of my most valued possessions has become my library card. I love going to the library every week now to get books for my kids at school and for myself. The Liverpool Library has a great display of new books, and they also curate non-fiction books based on different themes. Recently, they had some space books up at the front maybe due to the release of Project Hail Mary and maybe due to the launch of Artemis II. I got a book called A City on Mars: Can We Settle Space, Shou

Two Movies I Missed
Overall, the movies this year have been okay, but due to vacation and illness, I was not able to write about two of my favorite movies this year, and with two not so great movies coming out this past weekend, I figured I would take the time to back track and talk about two stressful gems, although they were stressful for very different reasons. The first movie came out while I was on vacation in South Carolina, Undertone . It is a movie that is right up my alley,

Is It Better If You Don't Read?
Project Hail Mary is an apocalyptic story for our planet, but it focuses mostly on one man. Ryland Grace, who wakes up in space with severe memory loss. Initially, he is unsure of where he is, and once he figures out he is in a spaceship, he is unsure of why he is there. Eventually pieces of the story slowly start to fall into place in his head. He is on a mission to save Earth, not because there is an imminent threat on his planet, but there is an imminent threat to the sun

Stop Screaming
So I always get to the movie theater after the showtime, because I want to skip the previews, and on Friday, I was coming right after my run. I left late for my run, so I got to the movie a little late for me. It was on the RPX screen, so it was in a special theater. I guess it was the only showtime for the two theaters over there, because the worker was just gone. There was no one to scan my ticket. I waited by the concession stand. Nothing. I waited by the scanner. Nothing.
